Abstract Times
These are work in progress drawings (ink on newsprint) and weavings (cotton, dye and beads) following the concept of a faux newspaper made with the same name, Abstract Times in 2021.
The first and second drawings are intended to be additional spreads for the original newspaper; my goal is to turn these drawings into silkscreen prints and then print multiples on newsprint to either give away or sell for a small price. I’m also considering proposing a performance piece (at ATA Gallery in SF) in which I would do a “reading” of the newspaper by sitting in a simple folding chair in the window of the gallery (face hidden behind the pages), silently reading for 15 - 30 minutes; copies would be available for onlookers to take to “read” on their own.
The last image, bottom right, is a sketch book spread showing my idea to translate some of these abstract drawings from newspapers into a tapestry with thick wool yarn.
